EV Charging and Solar

Our EV Charging experience spans a range of different transport from cars to buses to eHGV’s.

Since 2019, when Gridserve approached us to deliver their first Electric Forecourt©, we have been providing a range of services on various EV Charging facilities from hubs, to forecourts, to bus depots.

In addition to delivering charging facilities, we are also involved in the generation of the power to supply these, with both solar and battery farms.

Electric Forecourts

Gridserve's Electric Forecourt® schemes require sustainable construction of a forecourt building, electric vehicle charging areas and battery storage.

The forecourts feature offices pods, retail brands such as M&S Food, Costa and WHSmith and a dedicated electric vehicle showroom.

Electric Highway

The Grideserve Electric Highway consists of High-Power EV Charging Hubs, typically 6 – 12 bays, including all associated infrastructure and external works.

The electric highway is made up of locations at Motorway Service Areas (MSA) across the MOTO, Roadchef and Extra estates and other locations, such as retail parks, garden centres, drive-throughs and many more.

In addition, we provide a framework management role which involved the tendering of a Contractor Framework and Monthly Cost Reporting as two of the key
activities.

Electric Freightway (eHGV)

In collaboration with the Innovate Funding Scheme, we are appointed to act as Quantity Surveyor and Contract Administrator for the delivery of multiple new eHGV
charging HUBS across a network of existing logistics depots and Motorway Service (MSA) locations.

We work closely with a variety of stakeholders and depot owners to successfully deliver new eHGV charging facilities into existing live transportation depot environments, which in some instances requires the procurement of a new supply and substation/transformer.

Electric Bus Depot

RPP are appointed as Quantity Surveyor for the £18m new build electric bus depot for First Group in Hilsea, Portsmouth.

The purpose built all electric site will host their new electric bus fleet of 65 vehicles.

The works comprise of external electric bus chargers and relevant infrastructure, a bus depot including a warehouse and office
space, along with a service lane building with bus washing facilities.

Solar and Battery Farms

RPP provided Quantity Surveying Services on a new 88-acre solar farm in Cirencester, which is the first DC-coupled solar farm of this size in the UK.

The 23 MWp solar farm includes more than 43,000 bifacial solar panels on trackers, co-located with 51 MWh of DC-coupled energy storage.

We have also provided QS services on the introduction of a new battery farm to an existing solar farm in Hull.

Furthermore, RPP are currently appointed as Quantity Surveyor on two further solar farm projects, one in Wetherby and one in Cornwall, which will see the construction of circa 20 acres of new solar farm used to power electric vehicle charging.
