RPP were appointed by Calderdale Council to deliver three school projects, under an NEC3 contract. The first of these was this two-storey teaching block at Todmorden High School that replaced inadequate accommodation, along with the renewal of all the roofs across the school.
The new block was particularly difficult to construct due to its location on a steep slope, which required piles extending to 20m. The scheme also had a complicated drainage strategy with a major sewer from a housing estate above the school, that discharged into an open watercourse.
Handover and decant was planned in advance facilitating the smooth transfer of all FF&E into the new building.
All schools in the batch were handed over on time and within budget.
