HOT TOPIC: NET ZERO CARBON

Almost three years since the Government published its Net Zero Strategy and as we approach the 2025 implementation of the Future Homes and Buildings Standards, how do we decarbonise the built environment?

RECENT PROJECTS:


We reached a major milestone at HORIZON 120 in Braintree, Essex as planning has been approved for the Phase 2 development.

The scheme is a 33.5 acre extension to the successful Phase 1, Horizon 120 Business Park.

Phase 2 comprises of up to 55,000sqm of prime, best-in-class industrial warehousing sensitively designed to reflect the local area by incorporating a highly landscaped environment, creation of new ecological habitats to increase Biodiversity Net Gain and delivering buildings to BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+.

Providing cost consultancy to The Marshgate Group on the pre-planning stage of Phase 2, we are looking forward to moving on to construction in 2025.

Three years after our initial appointment by Pradera Lateral, our work continues at the TRAFFORD CENTRE where our latest projects include:

  • Recently completing Landlord Shell Works for Sephora, Sketchers, Lego, Superdrug and Pro-Cook
  • Currently delivering re-themeing of the Chinatown Mall to provide fresh modern look together with 3 new restaurant units
  • Re-development of the former petrol filling station site
  • Landlord shell works for 3 major new shop units on Peel Avenue ongoing

This Phase 2 industrial building is the 5th development to be completed by RPP at AIRPORT BUSINESS PARK, SOUTHEND for HBD.

Following completion of The Phase 1 development in 2020, this second building for the same occupier is a 121,250sq ft industrial warehouse completed to shell and core standard. Working with the HBD Design Team and the occupier to develop the bespoke requirements, the project is on track to achieve BREEAM “Very Good” and includes a number of enhanced requirements:

  • Bespoke ground floor warehouse slab to accommodate a dynamic testing facility.
  • Over 1,700 solar panels fitted to the roof to maximise power generation for the site.

Work is progressing well on our latest student accommodation development for  S. Harrison Developments.

JAMES ST. YORK is a new build development of 303 student bedrooms that are a mixture of studios and cluster bedrooms. These are accommodated in a building that ranges from three to five storeys with amenity /communal areas consisting of a cinema, shared working space, gym, laundry room and reception/common room area, along with more than 200 sq m of green space in the central courtyard.

Due to complete in Spring 2025, ready for student intake in the Autumn, the works have recently topped out with completion of the LGSF structural frame. Works to the roof and brickwork façade are nearing completion with internal fitout trades moving up through the building.

Homes For Students have been confirmed as the operator of the building that will be formally known as Walmgate House upon completion in a nod towards its location near the historic city walls of York.

ICN FRAMEWORK APPOINTMENT

We’re pleased to announce our appointment to the Innovation Chain North (ICN) framework.

This new framework appointment, which runs until 2028, means we are able to support more Housing Associations deliver new homes across the north of England, as our work in this sector continues to grow.

NEW H&S DIRECTOR FOR THE NORTH

Daniel Ryan, a highly experienced Principal Designer, has been promoted to Director of our Health & Safety division in the North.

With over 30 years of construction experience, Daniel brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge to his new role. Based in our Bradford office, he will be responsible for leading the team and ensuring the continued delivery of the highest standards of service to our clients.

Daniel’s extensive experience and unwavering dedication have been pivotal in earning him this well-deserved promotion!


CELEBRATING 25 YEARS’ SERVICE

Congratulations to Martin Stockwell who last month celebrated 25 years with the business!

A hugely valued member of the team, Martin is a key member of our Education team, delivering a range of projects from new build primary schools to university innovation centres… and he is also a whizz at Shuffleboard, as we found when he won at our team night out!

We’d like to thank Martin for his quarter of a centaury service and look forward to working with him for many more!
