SPARK is a major, 44-acre regeneration scheme located between junctions 9 and 10 of the M6 in Walsall and is being completed in partnership with Homes England, Walsall Council and West Midlands Combined Authority and Black Country LEP.
Up until 1999, the industrial site was partly occupied by James Bridge Copper Works Ltd and has the capacity to deliver circa 620,000 sq ft of new industrial floor space, and is expected to create about 1,000 jobs. Units will range from 20,000 sq ft to 315,000 sq ft.
The extensive remediation works have started on site to address the pollutants left from its history of heavy industrial use, including groundwater contamination, and engineered to address the mining legacy on the site to create a sound and consistent development platform.
