The Brownlee Centre project saw the transformation of the original sports pavilion into a modern, state-of-the-art elite triathlon base - the UK’s first purpose-built National Elite triathlon training base, providing a permanent home for the Leeds Triathlon Centre. It features a six metre, one mile closed loop cycle circuit, a strength and conditioning training suite, physiotherapy, medical support services and a new café with views of the circuit.
Primarily funded by The University of Leeds, the project also received £1million partnership funding from Sport England, UK Sport, British Cycling and British Triathlon.
The project has won several awards, including the Yorkshire & Humber Constructing Excellence Best Value Project 2018 and the LABC West Yorkshire Building Excellence 2018 for Best Educational Building.
