AWAAB’S LAW AND ITS IMPACT ON SOCIAL HOUSING
Awaab’s Law garnered significant media attention following the tragic death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak in Rochdale, which highlighted serious health risks caused by prolonged exposure to black mould. But what exactly is Awaab’s Law?
Vicky Burton, Associate Director in our Building Surveying Team highlights the law’s key provisions and the increased accountability it demands from social housing landlords.
RECENT PROJECTS:
We’re delighted to have supported DAKOTA HOTELS on reaching a major milestone on their latest development as planning is submitted for their York City Centre hotel.
Located at Northern House, an unused former office building, the 140 room hotel will include a bar, dining areas and top floor terraces.
This will be the sixth development we have worked on for Dakota, including Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow, as well as Newcastle and Manchester Airport which are currently on site.
Services: Cost Consultant, Employer’s Agent and Contract Administrator
We’ve just completed our latest project at THE WALLACE COLLECTION in the beautiful Grade II listed Hertford House, Manchester Square, London.
Works included the refurbishment of the external brick facades which involved the very specialist tuck-pointing of the bricks, repair works to the stucco and works to the ornate rainwater goods. We must say the external elevations of this building now look fantastic!
We have also worked on the Reserve Gallery and creation of a new Reserve Gallery through the redevelopment of two secure vaults, repair works to the existing portico, plant refurbishment and the refurbishment and repair of all chimneys and upper elevations.
Services: Cost Consultant
We’re nearing the end of the first stage of the PADDY POWER store refurbishment programme, marking an exciting milestone.
The project involves the complete refurbishment of stores across the UK and ROI, with all stage one stores due to complete before Christmas. Following this, a comprehensive design and cost analysis will be conducted to pave the way for the delivery of stage two, which we look forward to delivering in 2025.
